Bucknell Civil Rights Project

Exploring Civil Rights Issues at Bucknell University

March on Washington

Welcome

The Bucknell Civil Rights Project has been a passion of the Griot Institute’s for several years. The tasks we undergo to see where the Civil Rights Movement —an ongoing fight for Black liberation and equality— and the Bucknell experience of Black students intersect. See the local, national, and global impact of action taken on Bucknell’s campus through curated documents from 1940 to present day.

The Civil Rights Movement, though popularly believed to be limited to the mid-twentieth century, has not ended. This project also seeks to discuss what “success” and “progress” are and when or if ever it will be reached in America and on campus. This website also seeks to be a forum for where current and aspiring students may look to discuss what is needed on campus to be inclusive and representative of all.
